Welcome to Beijing! Highlight: the Summer Palace, the largest and most beautiful Chinese imperial garden
May 11, 2012 Beijing
Highlights: Mutianyu Great Wall, the Sacred Way, and Changling, one of the Ming Tombs, and the Beijing Olympic Village Bird's Nest and the Water Cube
May 12, 2012 Beijing
Highlights: Tian'anmen Square, National Centre for the Performing Arts, the Forbidden City, the most complete imperial palace in China, Temple of Heaven, and Jingshan Park for a panorama view of the Forbidden City and the modern Beijing.
May 13, 2012 Beijing-Xi’an|Overnight train to Xi’an
Highlights: visit to the 798 Art Zone, a series of factories converted into galleries and art studios, rickshaw ride to the famous Hutongs, following the original streets in the Shichahai area, ending with lunch with a local family and a chance to explore.
May 14, 2012 Xi’an
Highlights: the incredible life-size Terracotta Warriors and Horses and the Big Wild Goose Pagoda
May 15, 2012 Xi’an
Highlights: the Shaanxi History Museum, the Ancient City Wall, the Grand Mosque and a visit to the local free market.
May 16, 2012 Xi’an-Guilin|Fly to Guilin
Highlihghts: Reed Flute Cave, the Elephant Trunk Hill and a visit to a Tea Plantation.
May 17, 2012 Guilin-Yangshuo-Guilin
Highlights: cruise along the tranquil Li River to Yangshuo to visit the bustling Yangshuo Free Market
May 18, 2012 Guilin-Chongqing|Bullet train to Chongqing
Highlights: Chongqing Zoo and Ciqikou, Yangtze River Cruise on the President No. 06 Cruise Ship starts in Chongqing at 10 PM.
May 19, 2012 Yangtze River Cruise
Highlights: Taichi exercise in the morning, shore excursion, Chinese folk dancing and traditional music performance
May 20, 2012 Yangtze River Cruise
Highlights: Sail through the Qutang Gorge, the shortest and the grandest of the Three Gorges, passing historic sites such as Ancient Plank Road, Mengliang Stairway and the hanging coffins. Continue to the Wu Gorge with its famous lofty and misty peaks. Disembark at Badong for an excursion by pea boat to the Shennong Stream. Return to ship and sail into Xiling Gorge.
May 21, 2012 Disembark at Yichang-Shanghai/Fly to Shanghai
Highlights: morning excursion to the under construction Three Gorges Dam, explore Shanghai
May 22, 2012 Shanghai
Highlights: the magnificent Yu Garden and the Yuyuan Market, Nanjing Road, the Huangpu River, and a bird's eye view of Shanghai from the Jinmao Tower
