Archaeology Learning Goals

Students who major in archaeology can expect to achieve the following learning goals:

Develop an understanding of the major foundational concepts, methods and theories in the field of Archaeology
Articulate empirical research questions and hypotheses, with logical plans of data collection and analysis
Demonstrate knowledge of ethical issues relevant to preservation and cultural heritage
Demonstrate knowledge of the archaeological record for a chosen culture area
Demonstrate basic competence in at least one language appropriate to the chosen culture area
Gain practical experience in archaeological field methods, lab methods, and/or museum work
Develop effective critical thinking, oral and written communication, information literacy and research skills
