Music Learning Goals

Students who major in music can expect to achieve the following learning goals:

  • Perform proficiently on one instrument (or voice) such that they can perform respectably in public
  • Perform proficiently on the piano
  • Collaborate with faculty and peers to perform music publicly
  • Identify, analyze, and discuss the structural elements of music both verbally and in writing
  • Identify, understand, and communicate ideas relevant to the historical aspects of music both verbally and in writing
