Professor of economics and international business and the distinguished chair in Swiss economics at Babson College in Massachusetts

I have served at Babson College since 1974. I have been elected a professor of the year by the student body and received the Thomas Kennedy Award for Teaching Excellence in 2009. I have extensive consulting experience with both domestic and international companies, banks and the U.S. government.

Some of my consultants have been the Army Corps of Engineers, the Department of Transportation, Roche Holding Ltd. and HandelsBank NatWest, Switzerland. I have been a member of the United Nations Association's Economic Policy Council and have lectured at the universities of Bern and Basel in Switzerland and the University of Nurnberg in Germany. I was a member of the board of directors of Givaudan S.A., a Swiss-based flavors and fragrances company.

I also have authored and co-authored several books; among the most recent are "Managing in a Global Economy: Demystifying International Macroeconomics" and "Risk Takers: Uses and Abuses of Financial Derivatives."

In 2012, I also received the Outstanding Achievement Award, which is given in recognition of an alumnus/a who has achieved a significant accomplishment that reflects positively on the College.
