Dr. Igor Bascandziev
Psychology: Visiting Assistant Professor of Psychology
Igor Bascandziev earned his doctoral degree from Harvard University – Graduate School of Education. His research interests include cognitive development, causal reasoning, and social cognition. The goal of his research program is to specify the cognitive architecture that allows children to construct conceptual knowledge and to revise their existing beliefs. More specifically, the focus of his research is: a) the role of other people in children’s learning about the world and b) the importance of domain-general mechanisms – such as executive function – for children’s expression, construction, and revision of conceptual knowledge. Dr. Bascandziev teaches Introductory Psychology, Lifespan Development, Infancy and Middle Childhood Development, and Adolescent Development.
