Dr. Gaylor did his undergraduate studies at N.Y.U., during which time he was several times a national team and individual fencing champion. He has studied classical fencing in New York, Paris, and Budapest. A long time student of Maestros Santelli and Alaux, he studied fencing and ancient weaponry with Oscar Kolombatovich for over a decade while Oscar was Maestro de Sherma y Coreografo de Combato at the Metropolitan Opera. While in Paris, and with Maestro Santelli's introduction, Dr. Gaylor was fortunate enough to take lessons from Sensei Torao Mori (katana) and Sword Master Bob Anderson, whose most recent credits include The Legend and The Mask of Zorro, Pirates of the Caribbean, The Lord of the Rings series, The Princess Bride, and Star Wars. Following his retirement from academic medicine, Dr. Gaylor returned to his first love, Swordcraft. He also serves as the Sword Master to the Lycoming Fencing Club and Guild of Swordsmen.
