Assistant Professor of Religion
Dr. Knauth has been teaching at Lycoming College since 1999. Her academic interests and specialties include Hebrew Bible / Old Testament, Near Eastern archaeology, ancient Near Eastern history and literature, Biblical and ancient Near Eastern law, and Biblical Hebrew. She has dug at archaeological excavations in Israel (Ashkelon and Gezer), Cyprus (Idalion), and locally in Pennsylvania (Canfield Island, Snyder, Ault/Glunk, and Muncy Canal). She also serves as Director for our Program in Archaeology and Culture of the Ancient Near East and Mediterranean.
A native of rural northern Wisconsin, Dr. Knauth enjoys hiking, canoeing, rowing, cross-country skiing, and singing with the Trinity Church Choir and Chamber Choir. She has two teenage sons - Alexander and William. Her husband Geoffrey does computer software development.
