Dr. Marisa Macy
Education: Assistant Professor of Education
Marisa Macy, Ph.D, is an Assistant Professor of Education. Her teaching background is in the area of special education and early childhood special education. She earned both her Master's and Doctoral Degrees from the University of Oregon.
Dr. Macy has been appointed to two different Pennsylvania education councils: (1) the State Interagency Coordinating Council as the Higher Education Consortium Chair, and (2) the Early Learning Council for Pennsylvania. She is a member of the SpecialQuest state leadership team and has been brought in as a consultant to UNICEF. Dr. Macy is a director of EMRG (Early Intervention Management and Research Group) which is a non-profit organization aimed at improving the lives of young children with disabilities by improving measurement systems.
Dr. Macy conducts research in: assessment, intervention, and personnel preparation. She serves on two special education editorial boards. Dr. Macy has published articles in TEACHING Exceptional Children, Topics in Early Childhood Special Education, Journal of Early Intensive Behavior Intervention, Early Child Development and Care, Young Exceptional Children, and the Journal of Early Intervention. She has received grants for both research and personnel preparation; and a fellowship at the National Institute on Disability and Rehabilitation Research. Her awards for research on assessment include one from the American Education Research Association.
