Economics Major
Hi there! I'm Nick Lucas from Collegeville, PA, which is just outside of Philadelphia. I'm pursuing a Bachelors of Arts degree in managerial economics.
When I was searching for a college, I was looking for a place where I could get a solid education and be involved in campus life. Other characteristics I considered were small class sizes and the quality of the professors. I toured many colleges but after my visit to Lycoming, I knew this was the school for me.
Reflecting on the past three years, I believe my two internships were the highlights of my educational career. With assistance from Lycoming's Institute for Management Studies, I was able to land two excellent internships. I interned for SEI, a global financial company based in Philadelphia. There I gained insight into the aspects of the finance industry and the services that financial companies provide. This past summer I was selected for the College to Corporation Internship Program at Vanguard, where I worked in the tax department. Lycoming has an excellent reputation with Vanguard and many graduates work for their firm. Internships provide valuable experiences and the opportunity to network with professionals. I'm very fortunate to have had two with excellent companies.
As a brother of Phi Kappa Psi, fraternity life has also been an enjoyable part of my Lycoming experience. In fact, I've held several offices within the fraternity and even traveled to Mexico twice for conferences about leadership. I currently serve as the treasurer of my fraternity and am active in four honor societies, including the economics honor society.
If I were to use one word to describe Lycoming, it would be community. Students here have ample opportunities to engage themselves in activities, develop lasting friendships, and grow as individuals.
