I’m Kenneth Vicencio, and I’m pursuing a Bachelors of Science in psychology. I graduated high school from a small town called Miller Place, NY, but now I reside in sunny Palm Coast, FL. I know, you’re probably wondering why I’m up here when I could stay in the nice, warm weather of the south. Simply, I love the change in seasons and the snow.
Prior to coming to Lycoming I knew I wanted to help people in some sort of medical field or public service, so I began as an undeclared student in biology and psychology. As I got through my first year I realized I would rather focus more on psychology, and being that I had my science classes fulfilled, I worked on obtaining my Bachelors of Science. My plan is to continue my education into a graduate program.
The psychology program here has provided me with knowledge I need to be successful. During my four years, the professors I’ve had have been very supportive and have always had very interesting experiences to share related to their own clinical practicesand lives. Along with that, I have also been given many opportunities. For example, having a personal passion for music, I’ve been able to incorporate music within some of my experimental ideas that I got to implement on my own, with the assistance of my professors. Another opportunity that I’ve currently been able to take part in is the Psychology Practicum. This is a yearlong internship program that gives you the opportunity towork in one of over 20 different internships in the Williamsport area. This is great because it gives you hands-on experience in the field, as well as a view of Psychology outside of the textbook.
Along with academics, Lycoming has offered me the opportunity to participate in all types of organizations. This year I am the President and Student Assistant of United Campus Ministry, a brother of Lambda Chi Alpha International Fraternity, the Logistics Coordinator for the school’s choirs, a member of Multicultural Awareness Group, and a member of Order of Omega National Leadership Honor Society and IRUSKA Honor Society.
This school has become my home away from home, and my friends and professors have become a second family for me. I’m sure you’ll love it here as much as I do. Come check us out!
