<title>Library to host annual Read-In  </title>

<description>&lt;p style="text-align: justify;"&gt;WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. &amp;ndash; Lycoming College will host its seventh annual Read-In on Saturday, March 5, on the first floor of Snowden Library from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p style="text-align: justify;"&gt;The program will feature &amp;ldquo;It&amp;rsquo;s Not About the Bike: My Journey Back to Life,&amp;rdquo;&lt;em&gt; &lt;/em&gt;by cyclist Lance Armstrong. Groups of four to eight students representing various campus organizations will read for one-hour intervals during the seven-hour program.&lt;/p&gt;

<title>Library to host fifth annual Harry Potter Night  </title>

&lt;p style="text-align: justify;"&gt;&lt;strong&gt;&lt;/strong&gt;WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. - Lycoming College will host its fifth annual Harry Potter Night on Friday, Feb. 25, in Snowden Library at 9 p.m.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p style="text-align: justify;"&gt;The evening will include the annual costume contest and themed refreshments popular in previous years, in addition to new activities such as a multi-media trivia game and Sorcerer&amp;rsquo;s Stone event.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p style="text-align: justify;"&gt;Harry Potter night is part of a series of community programs surrounding the National Library of Medicine&amp;rsquo;s &amp;ldquo;Harry Potter&amp;rsquo;s World: Renaissance Science, Magic, and Medicine&amp;rdquo;&amp;nbsp;display hosted by the Madigan Library at the Pennsylvania College of Technology.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p style="text-align: justify;"&gt;Tickets are required for public admission and are available at no cost until Friday, Feb. 18, at Snowden Library, Madigan Library and the James V. Brown Library.&lt;/p&gt;</description>

<title>Art Department to host Kreisher’s “Meeting My Selves”  </title>

&lt;p style="text-align: justify;"&gt;WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. - The Lycoming College &lt;a href="http://www.lycoming.edu/art/"&gt;Art Department&lt;/a&gt; will host an exhibit by artist Katharine Kreisher titled &amp;ldquo;Meeting My Selves&amp;rdquo; from Jan. 20 to Feb. 18 in the Art Gallery in Snowden Library. An artist's reception and gallery talk will be held on Thursday, Jan. 20, from 4-5:30 p.m.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p style="text-align: justify;"&gt;Kreisher is a professor of art at Hartwick College (N.Y.), teaching courses in documentary photography and alternative processes as well as photo-related printmaking methods. Her autobiographical work centers on highly manipulated photographic images and photo-etchings.&lt;/p&gt;</description>

<title>Snowden Library receives Louisa May Alcott grant  </title>

&lt;p style="text-align: justify;"&gt;WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. &amp;ndash; &lt;a href="http://www.lycoming.edu/library/"&gt;Snowden Library&lt;/a&gt; of Lycoming College is one of 30 libraries selected in the U.S. to receive a Louisa May Alcott grant from the American Library Association and the National Endowment for the Humanities.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p style="text-align: justify;"&gt;The grant will be used to support reading, viewing and discussion programs featuring the documentary &amp;ldquo;Louisa May Alcott: The Woman Behind &amp;lsquo;Little Women&amp;rsquo;&amp;rdquo; and the companion biography of the same&amp;nbsp;name. Both works explore the life of the author and the historical and cultural context that inspired her body of work.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p style="text-align: justify;"&gt;Dr. Andrew Leiter, assistant professor of &lt;a href="http://www.lycoming.edu/english/"&gt;English&lt;/a&gt;, will serve as Lycoming&amp;rsquo;s lead scholar for the project.&lt;/p&gt;</description>

<title>Library offers students a relaxing way to prepare for final exams  </title>

&lt;p style="text-align: justify;"&gt;WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. - Lycoming College&amp;rsquo;s &lt;a href="http://www.lycoming.edu/library/"&gt;Snowden Library&lt;/a&gt;&amp;nbsp;hosted its annual &amp;ldquo;Snowden &amp;lsquo;Til 2&amp;rdquo; event on Friday, Dec. 10, in an effort to help students prepare for final exams, held Dec. 13-17. An attendance of nearly 500 made this year&amp;rsquo;s &amp;ldquo;Snowden &amp;lsquo;Til 2&amp;rdquo; the largest to date.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p style="text-align: justify;"&gt;The event took place from 9 p.m. to 2 a.m. and featured study sessions with professors, tutors from the Academic Resource Center, a &amp;ldquo;Stree-Free Zone&amp;rdquo; for relaxation and free refreshments.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p style="text-align: justify;"&gt;&amp;ldquo;The success of Snowden ''til 2 is dependent on faculty participation in leading review sessions,&amp;rdquo; said Alison Gregory, assistant professor and instructional services librarian. &amp;ldquo;This one-on-one time between professors and students is one of the greatest strengths of a liberal arts college. The library is pleased to be a part of that."&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p style="text-align: justify;"&gt;&amp;ldquo;Stress-Free Zone&amp;rdquo; activities included free chair massages sponsored by the Office of Student Affairs, &amp;ldquo;Dance Dance Revolution&amp;rdquo; sponsored by the Creative Arts Society, hot tea and a kotatsu table sponsored by the Japanese Culture Club, and a variety of board games and puzzles supplied by the library and its staff.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p style="text-align: justify;"&gt;Refreshments and door prizes were sponsored by the Office of the Provost and the Office of the Assistant Dean for Freshmen.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;</description>

<title>Snowden Library receives grant  </title>

<description>&lt;p style="text-align: justify;"&gt;WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. &amp;ndash; The &lt;a href="http://www.lycoming.edu/library/"&gt;Snowden Library &lt;/a&gt;of Lycoming College has been awarded a Preservation Assistance Grant for Smaller Institutions from the National Endowment for the Humanities. It will be used to strengthen the collaborative emergency preparedness of five local library and museum facilities: Snowden Library, the Madigan Library of Pennsylvania College of Technology, the James V. Brown Library, the Peter J. McGovern Little League Museum and the Lycoming County Historical Society.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p style="text-align: justify;"&gt;The grant will fund an emergency preparedness analysis by a qualified professional, followed by a workshop to discuss the results and ways the five organizations could assist each other in the event of a disaster.&lt;/p&gt;</description>

<title>Annual Candlelight Service to be held Dec. 12  </title>

&lt;p style="text-align: justify;"&gt;WILLIAMSPORT,  Pa. - Lycoming College will hold its 35th annual  "Candlelight Service: A Festival of Lessons  and Carols" Sunday, Dec. 12  at 7 p.m. in Clarke Chapel. Doors open at 6  p.m. with a musical  prelude beginning at 6:30 p.m. The event, hosted by the  United Campus  Ministries, is free and open to the public.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p style="text-align: justify;"&gt;The  service is a popular College tradition during the Advent season.  The lessons  will be led by Lycoming students, faculty and staff. The  service will include  performances by the College''s woodwind and brass  ensembles, choir and chamber  choir.&lt;/p&gt;</description>
