Note:
William L. Gendall is the nephew of Francis Gendall (1845-1902) of the Wyoming Conference of the
Methodist Episcopal Church. While a
student at Wyoming Seminary he served Plainville and Old Forge in the Wyoming
Conference of the Methodist Episcopal Church.
He served in mission situations and supported himself by working as an
electrical contractor. In 1905
established Grace mission in Wilkes-Barre and
continued in the work for 18 years. For
63 years (1894-1857) he served as chaplain and leader of religious services at
the Retreat State Hospital.
