Adam W. Shenberger was a very successful pioneer
missionary, pastor and district superintendent in Kansas and Nebraska. He is the namesake of Shenberger
Chapel in York County, erected on his land in 1865. There was different Adam W, Shenberger, a businessman of Red Lion, who died about
1900. This surname is also rendered
SCHENBERGER. A native of Shrewsbury,
Susan F. Moody Shenberger was the organizer and first
president of the Platte River Conference Branch of the Woman’s Home and Foreign
Missionary Society, active in temperance causes, and the author of published
pamphlets and speeches – she died in Kansas and is buried there. A.W. Shenberger
may have returned from the west prior to 1912, as his 1910 marriage to Elenora Swartz took place in Harrisburg PA.
