Note: There is a biographical file on Edmund W. and Mrs. Kirby at the conference archives.  He is the subject of the extended article “Rev. Edmund Wesley Kirby: A Participant in Methodist History” in the 2008 volume of The Chronicle, pages 46-69.  After 1872, he relocated to Philadelphia and became a medical doctor, first in Philadelphia and then in Washington DC.  The first Mrs. Kirby is a sister to Reuben E. Wilson and Elsie Wilson McGarrah, wife of James H. McGarrah.
