Note: This surname is also rendered DUCKWALL, DUCKWALD, DUCKWOLT.  The family lived in Sleepy Creek, Berkley County, (West) Virginia as early as 1789.  Duckwalt is mentioned frequently in Newcomer’s journal as a host, traveling companion, and preacher.  There appears to have been a Lewis Duckwall and a Lewis Duckwall Ambrose in the United Brethren ministry.
