Assistant Professor of Political Science
Susan Achury is an assistant professor of political science. Her research broadly addresses how judicial institutions shape political behavior. Her current projects examine the relationship between features of judicial review, such as accessibility and non-justiciability, and processes of democratic consolidation and erosion in Latin America. Achury’s research also focuses on gender and racial representation in the United States judiciary, comparative studies on intra-parties, and electoral rules.
At Lycoming, she teaches courses at the intersection of law and politics, including classes on constitutional law and judicial process and comparative politics in Latin America.
