Chemistry Lab Manager/Chemical Hygiene Officer
Krista Rinehimer joined Lycoming College in July 2019 as the chemistry lab manager/chemical hygiene officer. Rinehimer’s support for the department encompasses a wide range of responsibilities, including organizing, preparing, and instructing the general chemistry laboratories, as well as training and supervising teaching assistants. Additionally, she is responsible for ensuring a safe, efficient, and functioning laboratory environment. This is accomplished by managing the use, disposal, and inventory of all chemicals, making sure instruments are in working order, and implementing laboratory safety policies and procedures.
Rinehimer received her bachelor’s degree in chemistry with a biochemistry option from Millersville University. She went on to attain a master’s degree in biochemistry from the University of Scranton after defending her thesis on the photochemistry of matrix-isolated vinyl acetate. Prior to Lycoming College, Rinehimer worked in various laboratories in the pharmaceutical, academic, manufacturing, and environmental fields.
In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family and friends.
