Associate Professor of Economics

Sprunger arrived at Lycoming in 1993 as assistant professor of economics, As associate professor, he was presented with the College’s Constance Cupp Plankenhorn Alumni Award for Faculty Excellence in 2004. In his former role as provost, in which he served from 2011-2024, Sprunger oversaw an overhaul and improvement of the general education program, the addition of numerous new majors, and multiple successful accreditation cycles. Sprunger earned doctoral and master’s degrees in economics from Indiana University (Bloomington) and a bachelor’s degree in business administration and German from Bethel College in Kansas.
