In a celebration of women entrepreneurs, Lindsay Wrege will address the Lycoming College campus with a talk entitled, “Student to CEO: Dream Big and Start Small,” on Wednesday, Sept. 27,, at 7 p.m., in Trogner Presentation Room in the Krapf Gateway Center. The event is sponsored by the department of business administration and is free and open to the public.
Wrege, co-founder and CEO of 321 Coffee, will share the story of how she launched her business out of her dorm room at North Carolina State University with the idea that business should be used for positive social impact. Today, 321 Coffee is a multi-location operation that employs more than 50 adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD).
“Lindsay is showing that businesses can do well by doing good, and be successful at the same time. She is an extraordinary example of a woman entrepreneur, and will no doubt provide inspiration to students at Lycoming.”
“Lindsay is a great example of how entrepreneurs are modern-day pioneers. Many entrepreneurs would not take a chance on a business that focuses on employing IDD individuals, but instead of risk, Lindsay saw an opportunity to advocate for a marginalized group and didn’t hesitate,” said Jay Azriel, Sloter Endowed Professor in Entrepreneurship at Lycoming College. “Lindsay is showing that businesses can do well by doing good, and be successful at the same time. She is an extraordinary example of a woman entrepreneur, and will no doubt provide inspiration to students at Lycoming.”
Lycoming College’s entrepreneurship minor encourages students to turn their passion into a profession. The program, by its design, is meant to enhance any major or primary field of study—not just the business major, and gives students the skills to build long-term, sustainable success.
