Lycoming College annual Staff Appreciation Award Winners announced

Lycoming College announced the winners of its 2024 Staff Awards, presented by President Kent Trachte during a Mardis Gras-themed staff appreciation event on campus. Six staff members were recognized for their outstanding work and dedication to Lycoming College. The College also acknowledged staff members celebrating work anniversaries for 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, and 35 years of service, as well as those staff members retiring.

Employee of the Year – Jim Lakis, director of financial aid, was named Employee of the Year, Lycoming’s most prestigious staff award, given to the staff member who during the past year best demonstrated the embodiment of the institution’s core values. Lakis has supported Lycoming’s admissions department and financial aid strategy since he joined the College in 2009.

Rookie Warrior of the Year Award – Brooke Spicer ’18, coordinator of music and conferences services, won the Rookie of the Year award for demonstrating exceptional abilities as a new employee. Spicer joined Lycoming in 2023.

Warrior Spirit Award 2024 – Betsy Frankel ’13, director of sexual misconduct prevention & response deputy Title IX coordinator, was awarded the Warrior Spirit Award for her embodiment of the positive spirit of the institution.

Blue and Gold Leadership Award 2024 – Jess Snover ’17, director of admissions recruitment, earned the Blue and Gold Leadership Award for exemplifying significant leadership skills and characteristics.

Benjamin Crever Outstanding Service Award – Rebecca Rothra, executive assistant for admissions and campus visit coordinator, was named the recipient of the Benjamin Crever Outstanding Service Award for demonstrating excellent service and for making significant contributions to her department and to the campus community.

Jackie Bilger Dedication to Lycoming College Award – Janet Payne, director of IT, won the Jackie Bilger Dedication to Lycoming College Award, which was created to honor the memory of Jackie Bilger, who served Lycoming College with distinction for more than 13 years as the director of human resources. Payne received the award for providing outstanding service to Lycoming while demonstrating Bilger’s dedication, initiative, creativity, positive attitude, and unwavering commitment to caring for fellow employees.
