Lycoming College will extend its direct admissions initiative for Lycoming County through the next admissions cycle for students entering college Fall 2025. The policy allows qualifying students to receive a guaranteed offer of admission through a streamlined application process.

Similar to the previous academic year, high school seniors from any Lycoming County high school who have earned a 3.0 GPA or higher will be invited to become a member of the Class of 2029—the 213th class to attend Lycoming College.

"Many of our brightest and high-performing students are from right here in central Pennsylvania, and we hope to grow that enrollment and provide those students with an education that leads to meaningful careers and lives."

With acceptance comes automatic consideration for all of the College’s academic scholarships, ranging in value from $30,000 to $40,000 per year, beginning in the fall 2025 and based on the individual assessment of metrics such as GPA, class rank, and SAT/ACT scores (if available). Prospective students in the top 10 percent of their high school class are eligible for additional merit scholarships, including the Wertz scholarship and the Frances Knights Skeath scholarship, that support the completion of an enhanced academic experience, such as an internship, faculty-led research, study abroad, or a field experience.

Lycoming will host several Instant Decision Days on campus for every high school in Lycoming County, during which students will receive their admissions offer. For more information on these events and the streamlined application process, students should contact their respective high school counselor.

“Lycoming College is committed to the education of undergraduate students, and that mission begins at home with Lycoming County students. Many of our brightest and high-performing students are from right here in central Pennsylvania, and we hope to grow that enrollment and provide those students with an education that leads to meaningful careers and lives,” said Richard “Chip” Hinton, associate vice president for enrollment management. “I encourage students and families to check out our net price calculator and attend one of our upcoming Instant Decision Days to understand the return on investment that a Lycoming education provides.”

“Lycoming College’s Instant Decision Days helps to create a more direct path to a college career, in addition to additional transparency around the college admissions process,” said Chip Edmonds, Ed.D. ’98 executive vice president. “With ninety-nine percent of the class of 2023 currently employed or in graduate school, Lycoming is a smart decision for local students.”

For additional questions about this initiative, families may contact Chip Hinton by emailing admissions@lycoming.edu or calling 570-321-4026.
