The Lycoming College Board of Trustees today announced the next phase of a national search for its 16th president. With the newly-launched position profile posted to the presidential search website, Academic Search will now solicit and accept applications for the Lycoming College presidency. Today’s news follows the Sept. 9 announcement that after 12 years of exemplary and dedicated service, Kent Trachte, the 15th president of Lycoming College, will retire in June 2025.
For nearly five decades, Academic Search has been a mission-driven organization dedicated to expanding leadership capacity at higher education institutions. The Lycoming presidential search committee worked closely with Academic Search to develop the position profile, which defines the leadership agenda and qualifications of the next Lycoming president.

Prior to the launch, a community-wide survey and a series of on-campus meetings guided Academic Search and the search committee in the development of the position profile, as they worked to gain an understanding of the experiences, talents, and characteristics required of Lycoming’s next president.

We’re confident that in partnership with Academic Search, we will identify highly-qualified candidates for the job,” said Don Hughes, Lycoming College trustee and search committee chair. “I’m proud to lead this very capable team in one of the most important endeavors of the institution’s history.”
A review of applications will commence in early January, followed by on-campus interviews of select candidates, and the installation of a new president in July. Periodic updates on the presidential search will be posted to https://www.lycoming.edu/presidential-search/.
