Bach Experience Weekend
Join select choral high school students from around the region for the Lycoming College Bach Experience Honor Choir! This inspirational and developmental outlet for aspiring vocalists features voice training, intensive rehearsals, interactive lectures, and performing alongside a group of professional Baroque instrumentalists. Students work together to prepare for a Gala Concert performance at the Community Arts Center in downtown Williamsport.
Itinerary
Saturday, April 13, 2024 - Trachte Music Center, Lycoming College
9:00 AM – Check-in and Ice Breaker Games
9:30 AM - Voice Training and Sectionals: S-A-T-B
10:45 AM - Interactive Lecture: “What’s so great about Sebastian?”
11:15 AM - Sectionals with Lyco Choral Ambassadors: SA-TB
12:00 PM - Pizza Party!
1:00 PM - Rehearsal with Lycoming College Choir: SATB
2:30 PM - Rehearsal with Professional Baroque Instrumentalists
4:00 PM - Interactive Lecture: “What’s so special about Baroque instruments?”
4:30 PM - Run-through Cantata “Christ lag in Todes Banden” (BWV 4)
5:00 PM - Tour Lycoming College in Magic Hour (and Photo Contest!)
6:00 PM - See You Tomorrow!
Sunday, April 14, 2024 - Community Arts Center, Downtown Williamsport
2:00 PM - Call Time to Concert Hall
2:30 PM - Choir and Orchestra Final Sound Check
4:00 PM - Gala Concert
6:00 PM - Have a Safe Trip Home!
How does it work?
- Register by April 1!
- Auditions are not required to participate.
- Students and their families need to fill out the online registration forms provided below. As a special gesture for this inaugural event, we are waiving the registration fee this year.
- Upon registration, participants will receive a copyright-free PDF score of Bach’s cantata “Christ lag in Todes Banden” (BWV 4).
- Students will travel to Lycoming College on Saturday, April 13, 2024, for a day filled with singing, learning, making new friends, and sharing a love of music!
- Parents and family members are invited to join the Gala Concert at 4:00 pm at the Community Arts Center in downtown Williamsport.
What can students gain from the experience?
- Meet new people and rehearse with the best choral students from across the region.
- Sharpen singing and musicianship skills.
- Strengthen college applications through selection and participation.
