Diversity & Writing Courses
Within the General Education curriculum, students will complete at least one Domestic Diversity course, at least one Global Diversity course, and at least three Writing-Focused courses.
Domestic Diversity courses will help students understand one or more non-dominant groups within the U.S., dealing with issues such as race, gender, social class, religion, political ideology, sexual orientation, or any combination thereof.
Global Diversity courses will help students understand the world beyond the U.S. borders.
Writing-focused courses will give students opportunities to write in a variety of contexts and in a substantial number of courses in which they receive faculty guidance and reinforcement. These courses include (1) formal writing instruction in class, (2) student writing, (3) instructor feedback, and (4) student revision.
Students and advisors can view a listing of Domestic Diversity, Global Diversity, and Writing-Focused courses in Lyco Advisor using the Course Catalog feature. Searching within the "Catalog Listing" will display results from the entire catalog, while searching within the "Section Listing" will yield results for a particular semester.
